As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety and strive to exceed client expectations.

• Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors (handheld or auto scrubbers or automatic equipment as needed)
• Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required
• Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor
• Transport maintenance machinery between floors and job sites
• Clean and store equipment and machinery used
• Clean glass areas requiring ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment to reach
• Clean washroom floors including stripping and finishing
• Clean stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
• Load and unload supplies and replenish cleaning solutions
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Other duties that management may assign
• Steam clean or shampoo carpets
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Remove snow and debris from sidewalks, driveways, or parking areas using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow melting chemicals

• Experience in performing various cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment
• Experience in using floor maintenance machines, cleaning equipment, materials and solutions
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the provisions that apply to this work including WHMIS
• Ability to lift, push and pull heavy items as well as climb ladders
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients and the general public
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays and shifts as assigned and in multiple locations
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, prepare and maintain manual and electronic records

• Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable
• Must have a valid Class G license (required)

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

This is a regular, full‑time position with a salary range of $18.99 - $22.34 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
