Position Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling operations to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery of materials, parts, and finished products. This role provides leadership and support to team members while ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards. The Team Lead will help drive departmental performance through organization, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support the daily operations of the shipping & receiving department.
  • Assign and monitor workflow to ensure shipping and receiving commitments are achieved.
  • Organize inventory, materials, and shipping areas for maximum efficiency and accuracy.
  • Verify incoming shipments against bills of lading, invoices, and purchase orders; identify and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate and prepare shipping documentation including packing slips, customs paperwork, bills of lading, and shipping control documents.
  • Confirm part numbers, quantities, and packaging requirements for all outgoing shipments.
  • Arrange transportation and trucking schedules with carriers and suppliers.
  • Build shipment skids and ensure proper packaging techniques are followed to prevent damage during transit.
  • Coordinate forklift, crane, and truck maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor inventory movement throughout the plant and support inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Receive inventory and expedite material transactions through the ERP system (Visual Manufacturing).
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to inspect incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Train and support team members on shipping, receiving, inventory procedures, and safe material handling practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency.
Educational Requirements:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Required Skills & Expertise:
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of hazardous goods handling and transportation regulations.
  • Forklift operating experience (counterbalance required).
  • Knowledge of crane operation.
  • Experience with inventory control, shipping, and receiving processes.
  • ERP system experience, preferably Visual Manufacturing.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid G Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
