This role is responsible for the maintenance of equipment to meet production performance standards, including maximizing equipment reliability/productivity and utilizing process tools and knowledge of system capability to set and achieve performance standards. The supervisor oversees Maintenance staff, Modular Tooling Specialists, Apprentices and Janitorial employees. Focused on IATF 16949 standards for facilities maintenance and quality improvement through a formal commitment to excellence, cost efficiency and reliability, while contributing to Plant SQDCM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale) objectives.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Works in compliance with EHS legislation, Environmental Health & Safety Policies/Programs and ISO
14001. - Takes timely action to correct unsafe work habits or work conditions.
- Performs root cause analysis and effective follow‑up counter measures for equipment breakdowns.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area and protects the environment.
- Provides leadership to the team to ensure facilities and equipment are operating at their peak performance.
- Focuses on equipment reliability to maximize production line productivity.
- Supervises timely equipment maintenance, ensuring the preventive maintenance schedule is followed properly.
- Supports installation of new equipment and services.
- Participates in and organizes maintenance support for new product launches.
- Implements process enhancements to improve product and changeover efficiency.
- Develops plans for the implementation of new technology including the implementation of capital plans.
- Utilizes visual factory concepts to maximize asset utilization and plant performance in general.
- Develops all members of the team so they have the tools to troubleshoot and repair equipment/facility.
- Tracks standard manufacturing measures, prioritises opportunities and develops trimester objectives.
- Ensures that critical spare components are identified and available to maintain production and support equipment.
- Is responsible for workforce planning and safety compliance for the Maintenance Department.
- Ensures policies and procedures are in accordance with IATF 16949 standards with respect to quality of work, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and protection of the environment.
- University degree, diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing industry.
- Minimum of three (3) years as a Maintenance Supervisor, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, manufacturing, assembly processes.
- Previous experience working in a union environment.
- Strong technical knowledge – troubleshooting, schematics, manuals, automation (robots, PLC logic).
- Familiar with lean manufacturing systems and implementation.
