Job Summary
The Paint Line Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the paint area in the Fabrication Shop Supervisor’s absence. Responsibilities include training new and existing employees in the proper usage and preparation of equipment, delegating work, expediting work, and addressing employee issues (excluding disciplinary action). The incumbent will work closely with the production team to meet production goals, quality requirements, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate the paint line for various paint jobs, including washing, prepping, and spray‑painting parts
- Follow the Kanban/tag schedule and perform pre‑ and post‑inspection of parts to identify defects
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot paint equipment, tools, and the respirator program
- Review processes and suggest improvements to increase throughput and overall efficiency
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures
- Set up and refine new processes, including creating standard work documentation
- Assist with new part setups and support other areas as required
- Train new and existing operators in safe machine operation and setup
- Identify and resolve issues related to setup or process performance
- Report process improvements to Process Planners, supported by before‑and‑after data
- Delegate and expedite work as needed and address employee issues (excluding disciplinary action)
- Observe departmental effectiveness, recommend equipment or process improvements, and coordinate approved changes
- Communicate production issues to the Fab Shop Supervisor and other issues to P&C;
Team verbally or in writing - Support the Supervisor(s) in meeting production schedules and coordinating work with other departments
- Other adhoc tasks, as assigned
- Completion of secondary school or equivalent
- Prior experience in painting or coatings in a manufacturing environment an asset
- Knowledgeable in the mixing and application of wet‑paint processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Safety‑conscious, dedicated, and reliable
- Able to work effectively in a physically demanding environment
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
- Able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Team‑oriented with a dependable work ethic
- Ability to use jib cranes, related lifting attachments, and handheld equipment
- Follow written and verbal instructions when completing a work order for barcode production
