PRIMARY FUNCTION

Supervise all areas of the Plant during off-shift hours (Modified Work Week schedule). Ensure safety, quality, monitor production and troubleshoot equipment and process problems.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to the Production Manager.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are enforced and complied with and that precautions are taken preventing potential hazards.
  • Aware of planned manning and production schedules.
  • Monitor the performance of scheduled equipment to ensure efficient production flow and achievement of production objectives
  • Work directly with Maintenance to troubleshoot equipment, process and quality problems while minimizing equipment downtime and inefficiency.
  • Ensure communication with Department Supervisors through daily shift reports, email and direct communication at shift change.
  • Recommend new or improved production techniques or equipment to improve efficiencies and quality or to reduce costs.
  • Maintain the security of the Plant. Make regular Plant tours to ensure that doors are locked and fire and security systems are working properly.
  • Work on various projects as assigned.
  • Manage visual flow of the plant.
  • Apply the CBA consistently as required.
  • Support and seek opportunities to reduce environmental impacts through waste reductions, recycling and reduction of pollution of air, water, soil and resources.
KEY COMPETENCIES
  • Problem solving ability
  • Understanding of production processes, scheduling and quality assurance
REQUIREMENTS
  • Technical degree or diploma an asset
  • Familiar with control systems, manufacturing processes
  • 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Wire and Cable experience an asset
