The Plant Manager is responsible for day-to-day production operations through supply chain management, production yields and costs, labour management, employee health and safety standards and quality assurance.
The Plant Manager is a results-driven and dedicated individual with wide-ranging experience planning and leading operations. The incumbent drives the growth of production and the quality of manufactured products in the facility and ensures compliance with all applicable labour relations, safety, environment, policies and regulations at the plant.
Responsibilities Production/Operations- Oversee plant production and operations through quality assurance, cost and budget management.
- Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Maximize utilization of materials, productivity of the labour force and quality of products by establishing operating procedures and controls that effectively and efficiently utilizes personnel, materials, equipment, and capital machinery.
- Examine inventory, production, and other daily reports to determine the operational activities of the company and ensure optimum performance.
- Inventory control: actively organize, monitor, and participate in cycle and annual inventory counts.
- Responsible for product output, product quality and on-time shipping.
- In charge of maintenance program: ensure maintenance programs are carried out and production interruption is minimized through consistent preventive maintenance follow-up.
- Recommend system improvements and plans for upgrading productivity.
- Monthly and quarterly updating of budget/forecast numbers.
- Commit to plant safety policies and procedures.
- Determine yearly compensation review for non-union employees.
- Coordinate annual capital expenditures project.
- Supervise facility improvements projects.
- Participate in annual budgeting process.
- Provide necessary input and coordination on scheduling and process capability to provide for orderly performance on sales commitments.
- Reporting on the requirements for various B.C. ministry departments.
- Available for on call for emergencies and alarms.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Oversee all supervisors, maintenance staff and drivers.
- Schedule production with staff.
- Ensure the plant operations are properly staffed with qualified, competent workforce and that programs to supervise, train and develop a safe, productive operations are followed and practiced.
- Manage employee hours and shift schedules through Ceridian Dayforce Time & Attendance.
- Handle employee relations and performance management.
- Manage the union contract in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Handle all temporary staff training.
- Manage recruitment at plant level to ensure production requirements are maintained.
- Oversee the daily health and safety program by following and keeping up to date with requirements.
- Ensure that environmental and safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Provide leadership and guidance on occupational health and safety programs.
- Train and develop employees on safety process and procedures, and cross functional development.
- Actively participate in the health and safety committee.
- Ensure all working instructions, safety and hazardous assessment documents are current and up to date.
- Ensure plant’s yearly TRD certification is met and maintained.
- Oversee Certificate of Recognition (COR) accident reporting with the health & safety department.
