Position Summary
We are actively seeking   a casual Occupational Health Nurse   to join our growing team of healthcare professionals, working for our client   in Elora, ON.
As a casual Occupational Health Nurse, you will offer health services to all employees, including surveillance testing such as vision, hearing, and physical exams, education, promotion of positive health models, treatment of illness and injury, and follow-up of ill and injured workers. This is an on-site, casual role with shifts running from the afternoon to evening, Monday to Friday.

What You'll Be Doing
The casual Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the efficient and effective deployment of Occupational Health Services to all site staff and management of the day-to-day activities of the health center.

Case management of all occupational work claims (WSIB); includes completion of pertinent documentation, submission of forms and providing regular updates on the status of occupational claim.

Manage work reintegration and return to work for both occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational (STD/LTD) claims.

Manage personal medical time off and return to work planning

Manages and maintains an electronic database of all employee health records (historic and current).

Responsible for keeping track of all employees undergoing treatment for illnesses and injuries sustained during employment.

Management of Medical Surveillance program (oversight with Physician). Perform fit for duty evaluations, immunizations, X-rays, PFT, respirator fit testing, audio screenings.

Provides OHU metrics as required and requested by functional site manager.

Meets with employees as necessary for health & Wellness purposes for work related issues; recommends referrals as necessary

In conjunction with Environment, health & Safety, advises when an ergonomic assessment is required to assist with accommodating and facilitating an early return to work.

Emergency response care and follow up with First Aid, CPR and AED credentials

Collaborating with onsite doctors and other members of the medical community to develop patient treatment plans as required.

Participates and provides leadership for Wellness Programs including mental health within organization.

Educates site staff and management as required and requested.

Advises management and employees on issues concerning mental and physical health.

Creating and managing disease prevention initiatives that promote exercise, a healthy diet, and smoking cessation.

In conjunction with EHS, gathers the necessary hazard and health data to investigate the effects of specific exposures on workers.

Working with business leaders to reduce the cost of disability claims and other health related expenses.

Other duties as required and assigned.

What You Need to Be Successful

Must be a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience as an RN or RPN is a must. Two to five years experience in Occupational Health Nursing desirable.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (OHN) or equivalent desirable.

Certification in Occupational Health Nursing. Expectation is to complete this certification when requirements to take it have been met.
