Molecular Virology Scientist

Position: Molecular Virology Scientist Role
Elevate animal health diagnostics as a Molecular Virology Scientist at the University of Guelph. This position, based in Guelph, ON, is temporary full-time from June 2026 to June 2028.
The AHL is looking for a dedicated Scientist to join the Virology team, focusing on implementing molecular and next-generation sequencing assays. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring quality analytical results, as well as leading large-scale data analysis. You will also support compliance with laboratory standards and contribute to ongoing research and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and implement molecular assays and techniques

• Lead adoption of bioinformatics tools for large datasets

• Provide technical resource during implementation phases

• Conduct literature reviews for ongoing improvements

• Maintain quality control documentation as per standards
Requirements:

• M.Sc. in a science discipline or equivalent experience

• 2-3 years in molecular assay development

• Proficient in interpreting scientific data

• Working knowledge of accreditation standards

• Proven multitasking and communication skills
