Dairy Herd Management Assistant - University

Join the University of Guelph as a Dairy Herd Management Assistant at the Ontario Dairy Research Centre in Ariss, ON. Engage in herd care, health monitoring, and data management for research.

This full-time Agricultural Assistant role is temporary from June 15, 2026, to June 10, 2027. Under the direction of Research Facility Forepersons, you will oversee daily herd husbandry practices and ensure optimal conditions for dairy cattle. The position involves hands-on management, including feeding, sanitation, and equipment maintenance essential for a successful dairy operation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor cattle feed and water intake

• Clean and manage barns and labs

• Implement disease control protocols and treatment

• Assist with research and health data collection

• Maintain and operate dairy-related machinery

Requirements:

• Two-year diploma in agriculture preferred

• At least 1.5 years dairy experience

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Quick learner, team-oriented, and responsible

• Class G driver’s license or ability to obtain
