Position
Description:
Working as a casual guard, you will be required to travel and work across multiple sites within the Kitchener and Guelph regions, including both healthcare and non-healthcare locations.
Position: Casual Security Guard
Site: Various Sites in Guelph/Kitchener Region
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Payrate: $18.35/hr (Varies from site to site)
External Closing Date: July 9, 2026
Key responsibilities- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR
- Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor) - Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
- Valid G class Driver License with last 3 years of Clean Abstract as asset
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware:
The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability - Legally Authorized to Work in Canada
High School Diploma/GED
Certification Requirements- First Aid and CPR
- Level C Certification - Valid Ontario Security License
- Immunization Record for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and two step TB skin test
- COVID Double Vaccinated
As Needed position; 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift, School Hours, Weekends, Summers
