Child and Youth Counsellor

Position: Full-Time Child and Youth Counsellor
Join Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute as a full-time Child and Youth Counsellor, focused on supporting students with emotional and behavioral needs. Help create a positive learning environment through direct intervention and preventive programming.

This 1.0 FTE role requires 35 hours per week and offers a salary between $57,801 and $78,770. You will develop social and behavioral programming, provide counseling services, and act as a liaison for students and parents. Collaborating with the School Principal, you will focus on advancing students' social skills and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tackle emotional barriers to learning

• Develop social and behavioral programming

• Deliver direct support for students facing challenges

• Liaise with parents and community agencies

• Assist in creating IEPs and action plans

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Work

• Proven experience in mental health support

• Consultation experience in school settings

• Certified member of Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care

• Background in group counseling and behavioral management
