Position: Driver Residential Collection (Mount Forest)
Location: Mount Forest

Now Hiring DZ Residential Drivers in Mount Forest!

This is a non‑union, single‑man side‑load residential DZ driver position located in Mount Forest, ON, Canada. Loading is manual.

Preferred Experience: Successful candidates often have physical labor experience.

Starting Wage: $31.71/hour.

Shift Times: Morning Shift – 5:40am, 11hours/day;
Afternoon Shift – 11am, 9hours/day. Monday‑Friday, and some statutory holidays (including occasional Saturdays).

Job Summary

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments depending on the business line and truck type. They transport material to disposal, transfer or recycle facilities once trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers pick up containers of waste or recyclable material, often weighing over 1,000pounds, and must maneuver wheeled containers to a pick‑up stage area. Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclable material and safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments.

Roll‑off drivers prepare, load and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigating driveways, alleyways, lots and high‑traffic roadways, often in tight overhead environments on industrial routes. High‑skill backing maneuvers are essential in all roles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicle in accordance with Waste Management Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA, DOT requirements and all local, state and federal laws.
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks using the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Immediately report all unsafe situations or service‑related issues to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings and meetings as required.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notify Operations Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage.
  • Notify Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets, overly heavy receptacles or potential safety hazards.
  • Communicate customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch.
  • Dump all receptacles and leave the customer’s location clean and debris‑free.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and complete end‑of‑day documentation and check‑out process.
  • Perform duties as scheduled by Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher.
  • 1 year equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
  • Read, write and speak English well enough to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions and complete records or reports.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
  • Either a Class AZ Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air‑brake endorsement upon hire, or a Class DZ CDL with an air‑brake endorsement upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

The expected base pay range for this position across Canada is $30.79 hourly. This range represents a good‑faith estimate. The specific salary offered may be influenced by experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications and work location.
