Dispatcher – Level 1

This position is responsible for dispatching trips to TMW and for the effective management and support of an assigned fleet of drivers and trucks. The dispatcher focuses on operational excellence and superior customer service, ensuring the fleet operates efficiently to meet high standards for driver success and customer performance.

Location:

Aberfoyle facility, Operations Department.

• Confirm daily ready times/weekly resets with designated fleet.
• Discuss load requirements with drivers to ensure on time service.
• Assist drivers in solving on‑road problems as they arise.
• Communicate issues and concerns to appropriate team members (planning, customer service, etc.).
• Work with drivers to ensure utilization targets are met.
• Arrange to have driver training modules completed.
• Maintain a strong understanding of transportation regulations and laws when arranging deliveries and pickups.

• Maintain records of dispatched calls, driver routes, delivery and pickup times, and truck repairs and maintenance.
• Log customer shipping schedules and complaints.
• Maintain details regarding route changes.
• Keep records of driver training sessions if necessary.

• Create billing and invoice documents for shipments.
• Ensure that drivers receive necessary documents before pickup.
• Invoice customers for payment of shipment pickups and handle any issues regarding charges.
• Use dispatch software.

• High School Diploma.
• Post‑secondary education preferred.

• Dispatch experience preferred.
• Experience with programs such as Excel and TMW.
• Logistics/supply chain experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Capable of multi‑tasking with keen ability to prioritize.
• Able to make decisions with limited supervision.
• Analytical thinking, strong organizational and priority management skills.
• Computer literate and proficient.
• Able to accurately identify and proactively make suggestions to resolve problems.
• Knowledge of the trucking industry and associated rules and regulations (e.g., Hours of Service regulations).
