Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you an experienced Audit Manager looking for a Guildford-based role with high-quality clients, genuine autonomy and the opportunity to work closely with Partners without the daily London commute?
Fletcher George is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and growing firm of Chartered Accountants in Guildford, Surrey, which is looking to recruit an experienced Audit Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA, ACCA, ICAS, SAICA or equivalent qualified Audit Manager who is looking for a role offering a high-quality client portfolio, genuine responsibility and a supportive, forward-thinking working culture.
The firm continues to attract an impressive range of clients across Surrey and London, including owner-managed businesses, entrepreneurial companies, sizeable groups, international businesses and AIM-listed clients. This provides the opportunity to work closely with business owners, Finance Directors and senior stakeholders, with a level of client exposure often associated with larger city-based firms.
The role offers the balance many experienced audit professionals are looking for: varied and complex audit work, strong client relationships, team leadership, career progression, hybrid working and a firm culture where work/life balance is genuinely valued.
The Audit Manager Role
As Audit Manager, you will manage a varied portfolio of audit clients across a broad range of sectors. You will lead audit assignments from planning through to completion, act as the main point of contact for clients and play an important role in coaching and developing junior members of the audit team.
This role would suit an experienced Audit Manager, or a strong Assistant Audit Manager who is ready to take the next step in their accountancy practice career.
The opportunity is particularly well suited to someone whose audit experience has remained broad, commercial and client-facing, rather than highly specialised. Experience gained within a respected mid-tier, Top 20, Top 50 or high-quality regional accountancy firm would be highly relevant.
Audit Manager Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing a varied portfolio of audit clients across a broad range of sectors.
Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion.
Acting as the primary point of contact for clients.
Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with business owners, Finance Directors and senior stakeholders.
Reviewing the work of Audit Seniors and junior team members.
Coaching, mentoring and developing members of the audit team.
Managing budgets, workflow and delivery deadlines.
Identifying opportunities to provide additional services and practical support to clients.
Working closely with Partners on larger and more complex audit assignments.
Supporting a positive team culture and contributing to the continued growth of the audit function.
Audit Manager Requirements
To be successful in this Audit Manager role, you will have:
ACA, ACCA, ICAS, SAICA or equivalent qualification.
Experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environment.
Current experience at Audit Manager level, or strong experience as an Audit Assistant Manager.
Proven experience leading audit assignments from planning through to completion.
Strong staff management, coaching and team leadership skills.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
Experience working with owner-managed businesses, groups and larger corporate clients.
A commercially minded approach and a genuine interest in supporting clients.
The confidence to act as a trusted adviser and main point of contact for clients.
Exposure to AIM-listed clients, international businesses or more complex group audit assignments would be advantageous, although not essential.
Salary and Benefits
This Audit Manager role offers:
£60,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience (set by Fletcher George as a guide)
Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
Excellent benefits package.
High-quality and varied client portfolio.
Clear route for progression and career development.
