Site Engineer – Guildford (with coverage across Hampshire and Oxfordshire)

Salary:
Up to GBP
55,000 p/a (dependent on experience)

Overview

An experienced Site Engineer with a background in highways and infrastructure projects is sought to join a well-established civil engineering contractor delivering major National Highways schemes. The successful candidate will support the delivery of highways projects across the South, playing a key role in delivering a variety of infrastructure works including carriageway construction, drainage, surfacing, waterproofing, structures and associated highways improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out setting out using Total Stations, GPS equipment and traditional surveying methods.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and undertake basic material take-offs.
  • Raise technical queries with designers and client representatives where required.
  • Carry out inspections and testing to ensure works comply with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate site records and as-built information.
  • Ensure works are delivered in accordance with ITPs, quality assurance procedures and health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with programme delivery and coordinate with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress on site and identify any engineering or construction issues.
  • Support the commercial team by understanding project costs and the value of works delivered.
Required Skills
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of two years setting out experience on highways or civil engineering projects.
  • Previous experience working for a main contractor on infrastructure schemes.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • SSSTS.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • NRSWA qualification.
  • CAT and Genny certification.
  • Good understanding of ITPs, quality assurance processes and specification documents.
  • Experience using Total Stations, GPS equipment and surveying software.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
  • Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as project requirements dictate.
