Quantity Surveyor, Civil Engineering
Galliford Try is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor for its Guildford team, with travel between projects in the region. The role involves reviewing tender allowances and measuring completed work from site records and drawings. Those measurements support valuations, variations and final accounts.
The surveyor will agree valuation dates and submit interim applications to the required timetable. Commercial responsibilities include administering main-contract and subcontract conditions, procuring subcontract and design services, and dealing with subcontract payments and changes.
The role also covers:
- cost/value reconciliations
- forecasts of remaining expenditure
- cash flow
- turnover
Internal valuations and subcontract liability reports must meet the business's accounting deadlines. The employer seeks main-contractor experience on design-and-build projects and knowledge of JCT and NEC contract conditions. Applicants should hold a degree and belong to RICS or IOB, or be progressing towards professional membership.
The ability to work independently and within a team is required. Galliford Try welcomes discussion of reduced hours and flexible arrangements. The posting also lists a Chelmsford site-office address alongside Guildford.
Professional development and relevant annual membership support are among the stated benefits.
