Are you a compassionate and motivated individual looking to make a meaningful impact in education? We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Surrey for a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to work within a Year 9 Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) class
.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide day-to-day classroom support to pupils with SEMH and additional learning needs
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities
- Support pupils' engagement, confidence and positive behaviour
- Help create a safe, nurturing and structured environment where pupils can thrive
- Assist with individual interventions, group work and behaviour management strategies
- Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and communicating achievements
This role offers the opportunity to work with young people who benefit from a personalised, supportive and relationship-based approach to learning
. The class will typically have small group sizes with high levels of support to meet individual needs.
The provision supports children and young people aged up to 16 with complex learning needs including SEMH, moderate learning difficulties and communication challenges. Education is designed around the child, with a focus on building resilience, core skills and positive life outcomes.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate patience, empathy and a calm, positive attitude
- Have experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs (desirable but not essential)
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Be adaptable to changing classroom and pupil needs
- Hold relevant qualifications or experience in education or youth support
