What We’re Looking ForWe’re seeking an English teacher who will:
- Engage, motivate and challenge students of all abilities
- Maintain high expectations of themselves and their learners
- Deliver consistently high‑quality, inspiring lessons
- Teach across KS3 and KS4 (Years 7‑11)
- Contribute positively to departmental planning, resources, and curriculum development
- Share best practice, collaborate, and participate in CPD and peer learning
- Set and mark assessments, attend meetings, and complete departmental tasks
- Play a proactive role in safeguarding and promoting student welfare
- Uphold policies, values, and whole‑organisation expectations
You will ideally have:
- A good degree in English or a closely related subject (desirable)
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the 11‑16 curriculum
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
- Effective behaviour management skills
- A proven ability to build positive, authoritative rapport
- Strong IT, organisational, and communication skills
- A commitment to high standards, teamwork, and professional growth
- A positive attitude – and a good sense of humour definitely helps!
