What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an English teacher who will:

  • Engage, motivate and challenge students of all abilities
  • Maintain high expectations of themselves and their learners
  • Deliver consistently high‑quality, inspiring lessons
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4 (Years 7‑11)
  • Contribute positively to departmental planning, resources, and curriculum development
  • Share best practice, collaborate, and participate in CPD and peer learning
  • Set and mark assessments, attend meetings, and complete departmental tasks
  • Play a proactive role in safeguarding and promoting student welfare
  • Uphold policies, values, and whole‑organisation expectations
Person Specification

You will ideally have:

  • A good degree in English or a closely related subject (desirable)
  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the 11‑16 curriculum
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
  • Effective behaviour management skills
  • A proven ability to build positive, authoritative rapport
  • Strong IT, organisational, and communication skills
  • A commitment to high standards, teamwork, and professional growth
  • A positive attitude – and a good sense of humour definitely helps!
