Overview

Full-time or Part-time (minimum 0.80 FTE)

Tormead School is an academically selective independent school for 800 girls aged 4–18, located a short stroll from the historic town centre of Guildford, just 40 minutes by train to London. Students attain excellent examination results with 90% attaining grade A*-B at A Level and 90% attaining a grade 7-9 at GCSE in 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified, creative, and passionate Maths Teacher to join a dynamic, supportive and very successful Maths department to teach Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level. Further Maths is offered as a fourth A Level option.

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for Maths and a commitment to collaborative, reflective practice. They will bring confidence in the classroom, inspire high standards and have a firm grasp of curricular developments. Candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to participate actively in our rich programme of co-curricular activities and enrichment opportunities. We value colleagues who are imaginative, flexible and have the ability to inspire and support students.

We welcome applications from Early Careers Teachers to those with more extensive experience. Advanced Further Maths skills will be considered favourably.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Mathematics to Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level cohorts; support Further Maths where applicable.
  • Contribute to a dynamic Maths department and collaborate with colleagues on curricular planning and development.
  • Engage in reflective practice and continuously develop classroom practice.
  • Foster high standards, confidence in students, and enthusiasm for mathematics.
  • Participate in the school’s co-curricular and enrichment programme.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Good to outstanding teaching ability with a genuine passion for Maths.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to inspire and support students.
  • Commitment to curricular and pedagogical development and collaboration within the department.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community; applications welcomed from Early Careers Teachers and from those with more experience.
  • Advanced Further Maths skills will be considered favourably.
