OVERVIEW The University of Surrey is recruiting a Student Money Advisor to contribute to student support services that help with recruitment, retention, progression, and student satisfaction. The role sits within the Student Money Advice team and focuses on providing financial advice and support to students throughout the student lifecycle. The position supports UK and International students across undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and postgraduate research programmes.

The successful advisor will work across several areas connected to student finance and wellbeing. Responsibilities include administering financial support processes and helping students access guidance and digital money services.

Key responsibilities
  • Provide student support and financial advice to Surrey students throughout the student lifecycle
  • Support recruitment, retention, progression, and student satisfaction initiatives
  • Work as part of the Student Money Advice team
  • Offer information, advice and guidance across different areas of advice and student life
  • Support both UK and International students, including UG, PGT and PGR students
  • Administer the university hardship fund
  • Deliver the provision of the digital money service through partnership with Blackbullion
Requirements
  • Experience providing student support or advice services
  • Ability to offer information, advice and guidance across different areas affecting students
  • Capability in administering financial support processes such as hardship funding
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a student support team
  • Understanding of the needs of UK and International students WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Financial guidance and practical support can significantly affect the student experience, progression, and overall wellbeing. This role helps students access advice, understand available support, and manage money concerns during their studies. By supporting different student groups across multiple areas of university life, the advisor contributes to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
