Job Purpose
To work closely with students that require additional support in the classroom by adapting and delivering learning to make it accessible.
To work under the direction of the SEN Lead to provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment for students. By promoting physical, social, emotional and intellectual development you will enable students to achieve their potential.
Key Tasks:
- To deliver 1:1 academic and emotional support in class
- To liaise with tutors and other staff regarding the needs and progress of students receiving support
- Maintain student records/reports as required
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team with all staff in school and external agencies who contribute to the students care and educational needs
- To promote the welfare of children and young people at all times and ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed
- To attend relevant training and continuous professional development as required
- To ensure that individual student needs are identified and responded to
- To establish and maintain positive, firm, professional and consistent boundaries that support the student to reach their full potential.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Maths and English Grade C or equivalent
- Ability to collaborate with others and work within a team
- Clear written and oral communications skills
- Ability to manage own time and tasks
- A positive and flexible attitude
- Patience and empathy for others
- Reliability, creativity and integrity with problem solving and willingness to try
- High levels of emotional literacy and resilience
Person Specification
Desirable:
- Experience in working with and supporting children or young people in an educational environment
- Qualifications in – First Aid, Child Protection, Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Autism, Special Educational Needs
- Knowledge of young people's therapeutic, development, health and educational needs.
- Experience of working with students with specific learning difficulties such as Autism/ ADHD/Dyslexia.
- Experience of music or games in education – knowledge of music, music theory and musical software or games development
