Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist school in Guildford to recruit SEND Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with a range of additional needs, including PMLD, autism, complex learning difficulties, and physical disabilities
.
This role is suited to individuals who are patient, caring and passionate about supporting children to feel safe, understood and included in their learning. As a School SEND Support Worker, you will work with pupils who may be non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require high levels of personalised support, so a calm, non-judgemental approach and strong communication skills are essential.
Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 4–19 with a range of SEND needs, including PMLD, autism and complex learning difficulties
- Support with the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Encourage emotional wellbeing, communication and social development
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, school staff and external professionals
- Support with personal care where required, including Moving & Handling, toileting and feeding (full training provided)
- Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment for all pupils
Person Specification:
- Previous experience as a Support Worker, Care Worker, Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable
- Experience supporting individuals with additional needs or providing personal care is advantageous
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND
- A patient, caring and non-judgemental approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to individual needs
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
