Section Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Site Engineer in our Highways Division working on all elements of highways works (carriageway construction, surfacing, waterproofing structures, expansion joints, drainage, parapets, VRS, Ducting etc).

Ideally you will be located close to the Guilford area and be willing to cover the National Highways Area which could include Hampshire and Oxford.

This role will be working both days and nights.

• Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs
• Read and review construction drawings
• Undertake basic take-offs
• Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
• Have a good commercial understanding and know the difference between cost and value
• Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification

• Strong understanding of ITPs and quality assurance processes and working with specification documents
• Good leadership skills and understanding of construction practices; ability to work independently
• Minimum of 2 years setting out experience on infrastructure projects, preferably highways, with a main contractor
• CSCS card in the appropriate discipline
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (preferred)
• SSTS card, First Aid, NRWSA, and Cat and Genny
• Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel across the region
