Private Sector Housing Officer - Surrey

£50 per hour

Initial 6-Month Contract

Hybrid Working

Park Avenue Recruitment are working with a Local Authority in Surrey that is looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month interim contract.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced PSH professional looking to join an extremely collaborative and supportive team, with a varied caseload covering HHSRS, HMO licensing and general Private Sector Housing duties.

The role could particularly appeal to officers currently working within busy London Boroughs who are looking for a change of environment, while still maintaining a strong and varied enforcement caseload.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out HHSRS inspections across privately rented properties.
  • Investigate complaints relating to housing conditions, hazards and disrepair.
  • Carry out disrepair inspections and determine appropriate remedial or enforcement action.
  • Undertake HMO inspections and licensing work.
  • Identify and assess Category 1 and Category 2 hazards.
  • Manage general Private Sector Housing enforcement cases from inspection through to resolution.
  • Prepare and serve statutory notices where required.
  • Handle complaints from tenants, landlords and other relevant parties.
  • Undertake Public Health Act burials as and when required.
  • Provide advice and guidance to landlords, tenants and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate case records, inspection notes and enforcement documentation.
  • Work closely with colleagues across a highly collaborative Housing and Environmental Health team.

  • Housing Act 2004
  • Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)

The role offers hybrid working, with office and site attendance required alongside home working.
