Occupational Therapist – Victoria Ward, Guildford, Surrey

HwC Ventures is delighted to offer this full-time Occupational Therapist role within Victoria Ward, an inpatient unit supporting older adults through acute mental health crises, located at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford.
Victoria Ward provides a safe, therapeutic environment where individuals receive comprehensive assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation tailored to their needs.

Job Summary

As a valued member of our multi-disciplinary team, occupational therapy plays a central role in facilitating recovery. This post offers the opportunity to deliver impactful, person-centred interventions while also providing supervision to our activity coordinators and occupational therapy apprentice.

Main Duties
  • To provide high quality and evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and interventions, both group and individual, to people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with the occupational therapy pathways.
  • To communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies.
  • To contribute to the generic functioning of the team.
  • To provide supervision and mentoring to more junior occupational therapists, occupational therapy apprenticeships, support workers and activities coordinators (as appropriate).
  • To provide occupational therapy student placements.
  • To contribute to service development and audits.
  • To take on the role of lead professional as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications
  • HCPC registration
  • Occupational Therapy professional qualification
Desirable Qualifications
  • Completion of a Fieldwork Educators' course
Experience & Skills (Essential)
  • Relevant post qualification clinical experience
  • Experience of using relevant occupational therapy assessment and implementing interventions
  • Evidence of an interest and skills in specialist area
Experience & Skills (Desirable)
  • Mental health experience
  • Experience of contributing to service development/project work
  • Experience as a supervisor
  • Experience of group facilitation
  • Experience of supporting students on placement
