About the Trust

Royal Surrey Cancer Centre is based within the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust Hospital. The unit was established in 1996, under the name of St Luke’s Cancer Centre, and serves a population of approximately 1.2 million across Surrey and West Sussex. It is highly regarded for the excellent care it provides and for its work with the University of Surrey and major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.

Role Overview

Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the existing Metastatic Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team. This exciting role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high‑quality care to patients with a diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer.

Responsibilities
  • Provide key‑worker support to patients and expand an already excellent service.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction and delivery of a quality service within the Trust.
  • Lead and develop the specialist nursing service as part of the multidisciplinary teams.
  • Deliver a holistic, patient‑focused service, giving evidence‑based information and advice to patients with secondary breast cancer.
  • Act as the “key worker”, coordinating individual patients’ care, promoting continuity through treatment modalities, and serving as the primary point of contact for information and advice.
  • Work as a core member of the multidisciplinary team, providing expert advice and education.
Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate a high level of up‑to‑date relevant clinical knowledge and experience, with post‑registration training and development in cancer care. Excellent communication and decision‑making skills are required, as is the ability to work as part of a team while maintaining the autonomy to work with minimum supervision.
