Job summary

Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is seeking bank staff to work as a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning, treatment and support of people with serious and enduring mental health problems and people in crisis. The post holder will particularly ensure access to and availability of mental health nursing skills to users of mental health services and their families.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to a defined group of service users, ensuring care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated in line with individual needs.
  • To take a lead role in the clinical management and coordination of care for allocated service users on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and partner agencies to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
  • To supervise, support, mentor and teach junior staff, unqualified staff and students, ensuring safe practice and professional development.
  • To monitor, assess and respond appropriately to changes in service users' physical health, mental health and behaviour.
  • To administer prescribed medication safely and in accordance with Trust policies and professional guidelines.
  • To promote recovery, independence, equality and diversity, ensuring care is delivered in a respectful and inclusive manner.
  • To ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and professional standards, including consent and capacity frameworks.
