MS Dynamics BC Administrator

Role Objective

The Dynamics 365 Business Central Platform Owner will act as the dedicated owner, primary administrator, and internal BC engineer/developer across all environments. This is a hybrid role combining functional and technical platform ownership with strong development, solution design, and product management skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the hands-on direction, development, configuration, setup, coordination, implementation, execution, control, support, and maintenance of our Dynamics 365 Business Central platform—ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.

You will mature and optimise the BC platform, ensuring it is secure, compliant, scalable, and delivering maximum value across the finance, warehouse, online sales, order processing, fulfilment, stock management, and international tax functions. You will design and implement customisations, automations, workflows, and integrations that streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency.

These responsibilities highlight the importance of your ability to work across business processes, IT systems, code-based customisation, and cross-functional teams to produce high-quality, scalable, and compliant solutions.

• Own the Business Central platform across Dev, Test, and Production environments.
• Manage system lifecycle, updates, extension dependency management, and environment health.

• Implement and enforce IT General Controls, change management policies, and Dev Ops standards.
• Adopt and manage robust Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes.
• Use Azure Dev Ops pipelines for BC development, builds, code repository management, and deployments.
• Ensure all development follows best practices, coding standards, and version control principles.

• Design, develop, and maintain AL code
  , extensions, APIs, and custom modules for Business Central.
• Enhance existing functionality through custom tables, pages, codeunits, and reports.
• Perform debugging, refactoring, and optimisation of AL code and integrations.
• Manage development sprints and collaborate with internal/external developers.
• Build and maintain integrations using APIs, web services, event-based patterns, and Azure technologies.
• Develop Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and Power BI dashboards to support business processes.
• Own code review processes, ensuring code quality, test coverage, and documentation.

• Configure and customise standard BC features, workflows, financial modules, and warehouse processes.
• Implement structured enhancements that support business automation and efficiency.

• Manage and design the BC security model, permissions, segregation of duties, and compliance requirements.
• Act as Product Owner for the BC platform; own the backlog, roadmap, releases, and prioritisation.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs, user stories, and solution specifications.
• Monitor Microsoft’s BC release waves and recommend enhancements.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Warehouse teams to gather requirements.
• Manage third-party partners delivering development, integrations, and implementations.
• Evaluate and implement bolt-ons, Ecommerce connectors, WMS, CE/Power Platform integrations, and AI-driven features.

• Provide 2nd/3rd line technical and functional support.
• Ensure system uptime, monitoring, and incident resolution.
• Maintain documentation: AL code repositories, technical specs, change logs, deployment notes, and user guides.

• 3–5 years of AL development experience in Dynamics 365 BC or NAV (C/AL also beneficial).
• Strong experience building extensions, customising standard objects, and creating integrations.
• Solid understanding of:
• AL coding practices & event-driven architecture
• APIs, OData, and web services
• Debugging tools and performance optimisation
