About Alloy

Alloy is an award-winning product design agency creating innovative physical and digital product experiences for a varied global client base.

For over 25 years, we have helped brands develop products and services that are thoughtful, intuitive and commercially relevant. Our projects span consumer electronics, connected devices, smart home products, parent and baby products, professional broadcast equipment and other technology-led sectors.

What makes Alloy different is the way our UI/UX and industrial design teams work together. We design joined-up experiences across apps, embedded screens, connected products and physical hardware, ensuring every interaction feels considered and consistent.

We are also an employee-owned company. This means our team has a genuine stake in the business and in the quality of the work we deliver.

The Role

We are looking for a talented UI/UX Designer with 2–5 years’ professional experience to join our growing team.

This is an opportunity to work on a varied range of digital product design projects, from early user journeys and wireframes through to polished interfaces, interactive prototypes and developer-ready design systems.

You will work alongside our UI/UX designers, industrial designers and creative director to create clear, engaging and intuitive experiences for clients in the UK and internationally.

Many of our projects involve connected physical products, so you will have the opportunity to consider not only what happens on screen, but how digital interfaces work alongside the product in the real world.

What You Will Be Doing

You will be involved across multiple stages of the UI/UX design process, including:

  • Understanding user needs, client objectives, technical requirements and market opportunities.
  • Mapping user journeys, task flows and information architecture.
  • Creating low-fidelity wireframes to explore user interactions and screen layouts.
  • Designing high-quality user interfaces for mobile apps, web portals and embedded product displays.
  • Producing interactive prototypes to communicate, test and refine design ideas.
  • Developing and applying clear visual design systems and component libraries.
  • Preparing detailed design handovers and specifications for development teams.
  • Working closely with industrial designers to create coherent physical and digital product experiences.
  • Collaborating with clients, developers, engineers and other project stakeholders.
  • Contributing to workshops, presentations and internal design reviews.
  • Supporting user testing and using feedback to improve design outcomes.
What We Are Looking For

You should have:

  • 2–5 years’ industry experience in UI/UX design, digital product design or a closely related role.
  • A degree in UI/UX Design, Interaction Design, Digital Product Design, Graphic Design or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating clear thinking, user-centred design and beautifully resolved digital experiences.
  • Strong skills in user flows, wire framing, prototyping and high-fidelity interface design.
  • Confidence using Figma to develop interfaces, prototypes and reusable design components.
  • A good understanding of usability, accessibility and responsive design principles.
  • The ability to communicate design thinking clearly to colleagues and clients.
  • A collaborative, curious and considered approach to design.
  • The ability to manage your time effectively across multiple projects.
Desirable Experience

It would be beneficial, although not essential, to have experience in:

  • Connected products, IoT devices or digital interfaces that interact with physical hardware.
  • Embedded user interfaces or touchscreen product displays.
  • Mobile app design across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Web portals, dashboards or service platforms.
  • Creating and managing design systems or component libraries.
  • User research, usability…
