Join CAE’s Simulator Technician team based in Gatwick, working on some of the most advanced flight simulators in the world. With an extensive range of simulator platforms at our training centre, this role offers the opportunity to work across multiple aircraft types, systems, and technologies while developing and applying advanced technical expertise.
The Simulator Technician IV is a senior technical role responsible for maintaining simulator availability and performance through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, and system improvements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform troubleshooting and fault isolation on simulator systems to maintain operational readiness.
- Carry out preventive maintenance activities in accordance with approved maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks to ensure simulator serviceability.
- Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues.
- Support qualification testing, including QTG activities, ensuring devices meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Perform system inspections, adjustments, calibrations, and repairs on simulator equipment.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert in one or more major simulator systems such as motion, visual, aircraft systems, or computing infrastructure.
- Support simulator refurbishment projects, hardware modifications, upgrades, and technical improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
- Collaborate with technical colleagues, operations teams, and third-party suppliers to resolve technical issues and improve device performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-6 years of experience working as a Simulator Technician or in a comparable technical maintenance role.
- Fluency in English.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot simulator systems to system level on multiple simulator platforms.
- Experience using and interpreting diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in the use of electronic and mechanical test equipment.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance and operational checks on simulator devices.
- Ability to analyse faults and implement corrective actions effectively.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work a 4-on, 4-off rotating shift pattern, including days and nights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree, diploma, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Experience working across multiple simulator platforms and technologies.
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one major simulator system, such as motion, visual, aircraft, computing, or instructor operating systems.
- Experience performing in-depth visual system adjustments and setup activities.
