Role Description

As a member of the Underwriting and Product Services team you will provide and support a comprehensive range of governance processes across Commercial lines, collaborating with other business functions to learn and develop your knowledge of Underwriting and Governance controls. In joining this team you will play a pivotal role in providing assurances that the underwriting business operates effectively and in accordance with agreed rules and frameworks, and in improving the oversight processes and control frameworks.

This would be suited to someone looking to build their internal network and foster collaboration across the various business functions, whilst keeping the customer at the heart of what we do. This is a Hybrid role based from our Guildford office.

Salary Information

Pay:
Circa £40,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

Key Accountabilities

As an Underwriting Governance Specialist you will be involved in a wide range of activities. As the regulatory environment continues to evolve in line with Legal and Regulatory change the role demands the ability to adapt and embrace new challenges, new ways of working and ensure new regulations are incorporated and adhered to. You will work as part of a team that sits within the wider Allianz Commercial area so you will benefit from exposure to a wide variety of different functions, teams and individuals.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with various business areas to ensure that underwriting controls—such as underwriting guides, authorities, and underwriting quality audits—are properly implemented and approved by the appropriate business function and oversee continued maintenance.
  • Deal with referrals on the internal underwriting framework including sanctions.
  • Ensuring Underwriting Governance is appropriate, understood, embedded and adhered to across the underwriting discipline. Cascade changes into the business and support implementation.
  • Produce reports and MI for key stakeholders, providing insight into Underwriting Governance topics.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider business to provide guidance and support on Underwriting Governance.
  • Ad hoc Project work as required.
  • Working alongside our Excellence in Technical Team to support technical training programmes for the wider business.
  • Provide support to the Delegated Authority (DA) Team in activities such as audit follow up, creation and maintenance of Underwriting guides and updated and amend to DA contracts.
  • Build strong internal networks and use influence to drive business change, supporting projects and change programmes.
About You

This role would suit someone who has a background in either underwriting or operations and who is looking for a role with a difference, or you may be looking to develop your insurance career, full training and support will be provided.

  • Underwriting/Governance/Compliance knowledge or background.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Experience of managing multiple tasks with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure to meet deadlines, be proactive and able to manage and prioritise your own workloads.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and embrace new challenges.
  • PC literate with a good knowledge of Word and Excel and other Microsoft packages.
