We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Lead Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day operations of a high-performing maintenance function within a dynamic industrial environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine technical expertise with team supervision, ensuring all plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing daily maintenance activities and departmental performance
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of technicians, promoting a strong safety-first culture
- Ensure all maintenance tasks (in-house and contractor) are delivered safely and efficiently
- Manage and optimise the Maintenance Management System to prioritise and schedule work effectively
- Coordinate routine, corrective, and project-related maintenance activities, including shutdowns and turnarounds
- Ensure all plant documentation, inspections, and certifications are fully compliant with regulatory requirements
- Identify areas for improvement and contribute to continuous enhancement of plant performance
Experience:
- Instrumentation qualification (Apprenticeship or NVQ Level
3) with solid electrical knowledge - 4–5+ years’ maintenance experience within industrial, oil & gas, or similar environments
- Proven experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
- Strong understanding of maintenance operations with the ability to work independently
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Strong understanding of plant operations, including start-up, shutdown, and maintenance procedures
- Familiarity with emergency systems (e.g., ESD, Fire & Gas) and incident response
- Solid knowledge of DSEAR / ATEX regulations and safe operation in hazardous environments
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative approach
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- IT literate with experience using maintenance management systems
- Flexibility required, including occasional weekends, evenings, and bank holidays
