Role Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Level Chartered Building Surveyor to join our established L&I Technical Due Diligence & Commercial Building Surveying team.
The core responsibilities will largely relate to commercial building surveying with a varied workload including professional and technical advisory. The successful candidate will be expected to be technically excellent and have a broad range and experience of commercial surveying/consultancy, as well as be able to commission‑manage multiple instructions. The job will involve mixed and varied workloads, often requiring the balancing of several instructions simultaneously.
The candidate will largely be focused on service delivery, working as part of a larger commission team and supporting the achievement of exceptional outcomes for our clients. The candidate should be confident in dealing directly with the client and be able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines, ensuring that time expended aligns with the cost forecast to maintain profitability of instructions (financial performance responsibility).
Accountabilities
- The role includes predominantly commercial building surveying work along with some project management across a range of building types, primarily commercial. Experience in professional work such as dilapidations would be desirable.
- The position includes a relatively high level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team.
- To manage risk in service delivery and contribute to service delivery improvement initiatives.
- To demonstrate organic revenue growth and implementation of the business plan in terms of the commercial building surveying offering.
- To manage and undertake professional technical consultancy commissions including technical due diligence, condition surveys, LTAs, PPM schedules, etc.
- To effectively communicate, ensuring all information is available for the successful implementation and completion of projects.
- To liaise with the Project Managers and Team Leaders to ensure efficient financial control resulting in a cost‑effective service.
- To represent the company in a professional and diligent manner.
- To ensure the Sector Director has quantified information on the progress of each contract on a regular basis.
- To support with mentoring and supervising junior building surveyors.
- Degree and MRICS qualification (minimum 3 years PQE).
- Multi‑discipline experience.
