Staff Nurse - Emergency Department

Position Summary

The Royal Surrey County Hospital Emergency Department sees approximately 75,000 patients every year. To support and enhance the care we provide to patients, we are looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Band 5 staff nurse to join our busy team.

• Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of current issues in Emergency care within the NHS.
• Work an internal rotation shift pattern of days and nights.
• Provide patient assessment, planning of care, implementation, and supervision of safe and compassionate care.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care and facilitate learning and development of others.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities, be open, transparent and trustworthy.
• Act with integrity and uphold the values of the Trust and the NMC Code of Conduct.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment, with strong communication skills and the ability to use initiative.

• Band 5 nursing registration.
• At least 6 months of acute ward experience at Band 5 level.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Training is a key part of our department strategy. We support and provide training in plastering, venepuncture & cannulation, IV administration, ILS, PILS, ALERT, ALS, ATLS, and mentor prep courses, with close links to the university.
