The Royal Surrey County Hospital Emergency Department sees approximately 75,000 patients each year. Due to internal promotion, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our busy team. Applications are welcomed from both full-time and part-time candidates.

Applicants must have a minimum of 6 months' acute ward experience at Band 5 level and evidence of continuing professional development
. You should have an understanding of current issues within emergency care and be committed to providing excellent patient care.

The successful candidate will be required to work a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays. You will need excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and the confidence to use your own initiative as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and experience within a dynamic Emergency Department.

Training is a key part of our department strategy and we fully support and promote the development of our nursing team. Examples of training we provide includes Plastering, venepuncture & cannulation and IV administration. We also support ILS, PILS, ALERT, ALS, ATLS, Mentor prep courses and have close links with the university.

To provide a high standard of individualised patient care reflecting individual competencies and education that involves relatives/carers as appropriate. To be responsible for the nursing care of a defined group of patients. To assist in the management and organisation of the nursing service in the clinical area including the teaching and management of more junior staff or those in training.

• Registered Nurse Part 1 or 12
• Evidence of recent professional updating and relevant personal development

• Demonstrates professional awareness and knowledge
• For Emergency Department 6 months post qualification acute ward experience
• Understanding of current issues in Acute NHS setting
• Consolidation of Nurse Training
• Knowledge of clinical governance issues such as complaints handling, clinical risk management
• Knowledge of current NHS and Professional issues

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
