Become a Shop Helper at Guildford Cathedral
Do you enjoy meeting people and providing excellent customer service? Could you help create a warm welcome for visitors to Guildford Cathedral?
We are looking for friendly and reliable volunteers to support the Cathedral Shop, helping visitors find gifts, books and souvenirs while contributing to the smooth running of this important part of Cathedral life.
- Welcome visitors and provide excellent customer service
- Meet people from across the region and beyond
- Gain experience in retail and cash handling
- Play a part in supporting the mission and ministry of the Cathedral
Guildford Cathedral welcomes thousands of visitors each year, and the Cathedral Shop plays an important role in their experience. As a Shop Helper, you will help create a welcoming atmosphere, assist customers with purchases and enquiries, and support the day to day operation of the shop.
We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, approachable and willing to learn. Experience in retail is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.
As a Shop Helper, you may be involved in:
- Welcoming visitors to the Cathedral Shop
- Assisting customers in finding and selecting items
- Processing sales and operating the till following training
- Keeping displays clean, tidy and well presented
- Providing information about Cathedral events and the Refectory
- Supporting the smooth running of the shop as part of a volunteer team
- Guildford Cathedral Shop
- Flexible shifts of approximately two to three hours, agreed with the Shop Manager as part of a team rota
- Full training and ongoing support provided
