Role Overview

As a Tesco Shift Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a great customer experience in-store, leading daily operations across all areas, and fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.

• Lead the team to deliver a great experience for customers in-store.
• Work across all areas of the store and with all colleagues as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day operational queries.
• Build positive, inclusive relationships that help colleagues perform at their best.
• Confidently lead the store in the Manager’s absence.
• Make balanced, flexible decisions and adapt well to change.
• Coach colleagues, give feedback, and role‑model great service.
• Stay curious and seek opportunities to serve customers, communities, and the planet better every day.

• Experience in a team lead or management position in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Strong role model with a passion for delivering great service and ensuring every customer’s needs are met.
• Build positive, long‑lasting relationships to create an inclusive, supportive team environment.
• A clear communicator, using a variety of methods to keep the team well informed.
• A natural leader who motivates and inspires the team to deliver outstanding results.
• Be over 18 years old.

Tesco Shift Lead pay starts at £15.59 per hour, rising to £16.86 in stores within the M25. Some locations may offer additional payments. Minimum of 16 hours per week, although roles from 12 hours are also available. Shifts will be scheduled within the required availability windows, with at least three weeks’ notice.
