Job Description

The Laboratory Technician, Formulation is responsible for the preparation, formulation, and testing of buffers and formulations in support of laboratory and manufacturing operations. This role requires hands-on laboratory experience, strict adherence to GMP and cleanroom practices, and a strong understanding of chemical safety for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of laboratory chemicals. The position also requires foundational knowledge of molecular biology concepts as they relate to biological reagents, buffers, and formulation support.

In this role, the Laboratory Technician, Formulation will support daily laboratory operations by preparing accurate and reproducible formulations, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with GMP, cleanroom, and safety requirements. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to support formulation development, scale-up, and routine production activities while maintaining detailed documentation and high-quality standards.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:

  • Prepare buffers, solutions, and formulation solutions according to approved procedures and batch records
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix chemical components using analytical balances and volumetric equipment
  • Operate standard laboratory equipment including pH meters, centrifuges, balances, and mixers
  • Perform pH adjustments, filtration, aliquoting, and labeling of formulations
  • Maintain accurate documentation in batch records, and controlled forms in compliance with GMP
  • Follow cleanroom protocols, gowning procedures, and contamination control practices
  • Support inventory management of chemicals, consumables, and laboratory supplies
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment as required
  • Adhere to chemical safety, waste disposal, and environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines
Qualifications

Baseline skills, experiences, and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred)
  • Basic understanding of molecular biology techniques and principles
  • Ability to follow detailed written procedures and work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a regulated environment
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom and GMP-controlled laboratory settings
  • Knowledge of chemical compatibility, safe handling, and storage practices
  • Prior experience preparing buffers, solutions, or formulations in a laboratory setting
  • Hands-on experience with standard laboratory equipment (balances, pH meters, centrifuges)
  • Familiarity with chemical safety, MSDS/SDS documentation, and laboratory safety protocols
  • Experience working in GMP-regulated and/or cleanroom environments preferred
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques or reagents is a plus
