Position Overview

EAP In-sessional Lecturer at GEDU Global Education

Department
:
Academic/Bath Spa University (BSU), University of Suffolk (UoS), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), Oxford Brooks University (OBU) and/or Pearson partnerships.

Location: Leeds (On‑Site).

Salary: £51,000.

Contract: Full‑Time, Permanent (40 hours per week).

Type of Role: Study Skills Lecturer; collaborate with subject lecturers to develop and teach study skills across a range of HE programmes from Foundation to Masters’ Level within BSU, UoS, and OBU partnerships. Includes improving English language, numeracy, organisational, presentation, digital literacy, IT, reading, writing and research skills. Requires flexibility to teach weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Visa: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Design and document bespoke courses, digital resources, workshop plans and schemes of work to develop study skills in the curricula.
  • Deliver and evaluate teaching, identifying areas for improvement to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and overall student experience in accordance with the GBS Learning and Teaching strategy.
  • Provide feedback on individual and class progress in academic writing and other study skills.
  • Provide tutorial consultations, give constructive comments tailored to each student’s needs, explain where work fails assessment criteria and suggest improvement strategies.
  • Record details from consultations for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to other services as appropriate.
  • Engage with VLE and research resources to facilitate student learning via online resources and activities.
  • Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
About You
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
  • Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the subject area.
  • Have a successful track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds on HE programmes.
  • Have proven experience providing individual and group study skills support in response to identified learning needs.
  • Be willing to lead a specific literacy area such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills, project/dissertation support, peer‑assisted learning.
  • Demonstrate a high level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
Desirable
  • Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development.
  • DELTA qualification.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol in a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
