Job Role of the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing facility in Yeadon, Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their career within a busy manufacturing environment, working on a range of instrumentation, control systems and measurement equipment.
You will be responsible for the maintenance, calibration, fault-finding and optimisation of instrumentation and control systems
, helping to ensure the reliability, accuracy and efficiency of the manufacturing process.
The role will involve a mixture of planned maintenance, calibration, reactive fault-finding and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to contribute to wider Lean Manufacturing, TPM and operational excellence initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out calibration, maintenance, inspection and repair of instrumentation and control systems.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance and scheduled calibration activities.
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault-finding to minimise production downtime.
- Investigate recurring instrumentation and equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, certificates and documentation.
- Assist with control system software modifications, configuration changes and commissioning.
- Interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings and instrumentation documentation.
- Maintain instrumentation manuals, drawings, configuration files, programme backups and certification.
- Identify opportunities to improve instrumentation reliability and process performance.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 6S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all maintenance and calibration activities are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Experience working within Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical or Automation Engineering
. - Experience carrying out calibration and maintenance of instrumentation and measurement systems
. - Strong electrical and instrumentation fault-finding experience.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or technical qualification.
- Equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Previous experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with PLCs, control systems or process instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM or 6S.
- Experience supporting internal or external audits.
- Experience with calibration management systems.
- Strong understanding of continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
- Salary up to £40,000.
