Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Program Management or Business Management or related field; and two to three years of experience with daycare/school facility required; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Oversees and participates in the development, promotion, and implementation of a diverse offering of recreation programs for all ages and seasonal youth camps in accordance with community needs and demands. Performance requires the use of independence, initiative, and discretion. Conducts research to identify programs of value and interest to the community; evaluates program effectiveness and viability; makes recommendations on new programs or modifications of existing programs to meet community needs;
Schedules and coordinates speakers, instructors, resources, transportation and trips for the various programs;
Establish and collect program fees;
Performs necessary research and analysis to justify the appropriateness of implementing the proposed program/project;
Develops curriculum and safety guidelines for youth camps;
Conducts periodic inspections and ensures program facilities are properly maintained for optimal participant safety;
Responds to questions, concerns and emergency situations while taking appropriate course of action and notifies supervisor as needed;
Develops, implements, and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines;
Ensures compliance with relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling meetings, preparing reports, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records;
Develops, implements, and recommends effective maintenance and safety programs, procedures, and guidelines;
Makes recommendations to supervisor with budget development and oversite; codes departmental invoices;
Assist with preparing and administering program as appropriate;
Monitor expenditures and payroll in accordance with established procedure;
Purchasing supplies and equipment and other items needed for programming. Multi-tasking, prioritizing, organizing, and responding to shifting priorities and delegating assignments and projects in order to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives;
Prepares presentation materials and background documentation;
Works collaboratively with others and confers regularly with other coordinators.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates employees;
Processing staff concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, scheduling, disciplining, and assisting with completing employee performance appraisals;
Insures proper coverage of all programs;
Assists Supervisor in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies, procedures including; interviewing hiring and training of staff;
Rewarding and discipline of employees;
Structures the evaluation and professional development of program staff to ensure a high performing team;
Ability to execute independent problem solving and decision. Addresses internal complaints and uses skill in conflict resolution to ensure positive outcomes.

Assists the marketing coordinator with various promotion, marketing and public relation activities related to all area programs;
Interacts with community groups to advertise programming;
Submit requests and assists in the preparation of promotional materials to ensure adherence to established policies, procedure and standards;
Writes articles for the local newspapers and newsletter;
Conducts surveys to gather information for use in improving programming;
Photographs activities, programs and events for public relations materials;
Post relevant information about programs on the recreation Facebook page and City website;
Participate in the preparation of budgets and deciding on best methods for advertising, as assigned;
Performs community outreach to promote recreation programs and stimulate interest in program offerings.
