Job Description:
Mechanical Drafter
Job Summary:
A mechanical drafter creates detailed technical drawings and specifications for mechanical devices and systems, utilizing CAD software to support engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Develop precise schematics and blueprints for mechanical devices, including dimensions, materials, and assembly instructions using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Work closely with engineers and other professionals to understand design requirements and incorporate functionality into drawings.
- Revise and update existing designs to correct deficiencies or improve production efficiency.
- Analyze specifications, sketches, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Create three-dimensional models to visualize and simulate mechanical systems.
- Assist in testing and inspecting prototypes to ensure they meet design specifications and performance standards.
- Associate degree in Drafting or equivalent marine or shipbuilding experience
- Minimum of 1-year experience in Mechanical Drafting or related field
- Experience with AutoCAD required. Experience with Rhino is a plus.
- Experience with 3D Solid modeling required, such as Solidworks, Catia, etc.
- RCRA/HAZCOM training according to 40 CFR 262
