Overview
Seemann Composites, LLC is a world leader in composite manufacturing, supporting the U.S. Navy with specialized products. As an agile small/medium company, our engineers participate in product development from design to delivery, working in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) with engineering, program management, quality, logistics, and production.
Engineering III Responsibilities- Lead product development, tooling development, and manufacturing support supervision.
- Interface with other engineers and IPT members to accomplish project objectives.
- Design parts and fixtures, author manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, white papers, monthly reports, and proposals, schedules, budgets, and other programmatic deliverables without supervisor input.
- Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings in Solid Works, ensuring design compliance and manufacturability.
- Provide technical ownership and subject matter expertise for small or medium‑size projects and serve as IPT lead of projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Composites, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Chemical, Aerospace, Naval Architecture, or related engineering discipline.
- 5 to 10 years of experience performing similar duties.
- Proficient in Solid Works and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- United States citizenship or permanent resident status required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.
- Product owner of several projects, author manufacturing work instructions, inspection procedures, white papers, monthly reports, etc. without input from supervisor.
- May be a subject matter expert in a few areas of the production process.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Expertise in Solid Works or equivalent 3D modeling and 2D drawing.
- Experience with Microsoft Project, Deltek/CostPoint, and technical writing.
- Hands‑on fabrication experience.
Physical Requirements
Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment requires walking, standing, and movement throughout the day. May lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Duties may involve bending, stretching, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.
Noise level usually low to moderate. May be required to wear PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and clothing. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. May need to work overtime, nights and weekends.
