Tax Manager, Core Tax Services
Tax Manager role at BDO USA advises clients on tax implications of business objectives, selects actions to reduce tax burden, and serves as primary client contact for complex tax issues.
Responsibilities- Ensure client compliance with all authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Conduct top‑level review of tax returns and resolve all issues with client; involve specialists where appropriate.
- Communicate with client and Assurance any issues identified in tax accrual reviews.
- Plan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement process, billing, and collection of A/R.
- Manage client relationships and expectations in accordance with the project.
- Provide timely advice to clients.
- Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, including decreasing current and future taxes.
- Serve as a technical resource and ensure client service teams comply with firm policy regarding Written Tax Advice.
- Develop and implement a work plan to include/organize the STS assistance on ongoing projects from client.
- Education:
Bachelors degree required (major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics);
Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred. - Experience:
5+ years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience required; prior supervisory experience required; industry expertise in one or more tax specialties preferred. - License/Certification: CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent (or equivalent designations) required.
- Software:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (preferred); experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software (preferred). - Language: N/A.

Superior verbal and written communication skills; effective delegation; strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills; ability to work well in a team environment; capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals; ability to compose written tax advice; executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients.
