Description
The On-Call Banquet Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at various events, ensuring guest satisfaction and a high level of service. This role involves maintaining the bar area, ensuring compliance with safety and legal regulations, and delivering a positive, welcoming environment for event attendees. The position is on-call and works during events such as weddings, conferences, banquets, and other special occasions.
Key Responsibilities• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and event specifications.
• Mix, garnish, and serve drinks efficiently, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
• Make beverage recommendations based on guest preferences or event theme.
• Ensure all beverages are served in appropriate glassware and properly garnished.
• Greet guests in a friendly, professional manner, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Take drink orders from guests at the bar or through event staff, ensuring timely and attentive service.
• Address guest questions or concerns promptly and courteously, handling any issues professionally.
• Provide recommendations and help guests enjoy their drink selections.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including countertops, shelves, and storage.
• Replenish bar supplies (alcohol, mixers, garnishes, etc.) as needed.
• Clean bar tools, glassware, and utensils, ensuring everything is sanitized for safe use.
• Properly dispose of trash and waste according to health and safety guidelines.
• Serve alcohol in compliance with legal drinking age laws and company policies.
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and refuse service when necessary, maintaining a safe and responsible environment.
• Ensure proper identification is checked when serving alcohol to ensure compliance with legal standards.
• Follow all safety and health protocols, ensuring guest and staff safety.
• Assist in setting up the bar area for special events, ensuring all supplies and equipment are in place.
• Serve drinks at events, maintaining high service standards even during busy or high-volume periods.
• Break down and clean the bar area after events, ensuring it is left in good condition.
• Monitor inventory levels for alcoholic beverages, mixers, and bar supplies.
• Notify the appropriate supervisor if stock needs replenishing.
• Ensure proper storage of all items, including alcohol, to maintain freshness and quality.
Collaboration:
• Work effectively with other bartenders, servers, kitchen staff, and event coordinators to ensure smooth event operations.
• Communicate effectively with event staff to ensure that orders are delivered accurately and promptly.
• Assist in the training of new staff members or bartenders, if applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Certification in alcohol service (e.g., Serve Safe Alcohol or equivalent) may be required depending on local regulations.
• Previous bartending experience, particularly in a banquet or event setting, is preferred.
• Experience in customer service and cash handling is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to interact with guests and coworkers in a professional and friendly manner.
• Knowledge of drink recipes, mixing techniques, and bar equipment.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail, especially in maintaining cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Alcohol Service Certification (preferred).
• Food Safety and Sanitation certification may be required in some regions.
• Ability to stand for long periods and move around the bar area.
• Ability to lift and carry items, such as bottles and kegs, up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in a loud, crowded, and fast-paced environment.
• The On-Call Banquet Bartender will work in various event venues, including banquet halls, conference centers, and outdoor event spaces.
• Hours are flexible and on-call, with shifts during evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the event schedule.
• This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with high guest volumes during events.
