The Plant Operator I – V performs general maintenance duties and provides general support services across all non-clinical equipment and facilities for Singing River Health System operations. The Plant Operator V is responsible for training other Plant Operators.

• Perform general maintenance and support duties in all areas of the facility.
• Train Plant Operators I–IV as needed.

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Certification preferred for electricians, HVAC technicians, and plumbers.
• Experience Requirements:
  • Plant Operator I – 0‑2 years in commercial or industrial electrical, HVAC, boilers, chillers, plumbing or piping, Safety Code.
  • Plant Operator II – 2‑4 years, must have completed at least two years as a Plant Operator I.
  • Plant Operator III – 4‑6 years, must have completed at least three years as a Plant Operator II.
  • Plant Operator IV – 6+ years, must have completed at least three years as a Plant Operator III.
  • Plant Operator V – 6+ years plus at least one year as a Plant Operator IV.

Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, uses many physical motions, lift 50 pounds without assistance. Requires moderate to high agility and strength. Ability to stand for extended periods, walk without fatigue. Possible exposure to communicable disease or radiation.

Strong communication, decision-making, written and verbal skills. Ability work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and multitasking in complex situations.

Superior customer service skills, professional etiquette, basic computer skills (keyboard proficiency), use of telephone and fax. General knowledge of hand tools, gauges, tape measure. Computer skills: advanced for Plant Operators II–V, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Must have valid driver license and own travel.

Rotating shifts when requested or scheduled by Manager. Travels throughout the SRHS service area – employee provides own transportation.

Completion of online Singing River Health System safety modules.
