Overview
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a professional practitioner who provides anesthesia services to the patients of Singing River Health System under the direction of a duly licensed physician and nursing service protocol. He/She administers and monitors the patient prior to, during, and after the procedure. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) carries out established policies and procedures and recommends changes to the System Chief CRNA.

EducationGraduate of an anesthesia educational program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor. Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by Singing River Health System.
LicenseMust hold a current Registered Nurse/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in the state of Mississippi and comply with applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing.
CertificationMust complete and maintain BCLS, ACLS and PALS certifications.
ExperienceA minimum of two (2) years’ appropriate anesthesia practice and experience preferred.
Responsibilities- Administers and monitors anesthesia under physician direction and nursing service protocol.
- Follow established policies and procedures and recommend changes to the System Chief CRNA.
- Provide patient care before, during, and after procedures.
Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk long distances. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation. Visual and auditory requirements described as needed for the role.
Mental DemandsMust demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision-making abilities; strong communication skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; attention to detail and ability to multi-task; strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Special DemandsMust coordinate needs of patients with tact in relation to Medical Staff, Nursing Services, and other departments; maintain a position of trust regarding information; function under emergency conditions. Full-Time CRNA takes and responds to 24-hour call on a rotation basis, including weekends. Must demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply professional skills to patients of all ages.
