Maxmed Healthcare is seeking a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner to provide services within the Deployment Related Health Assessment program at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Work Hours: Services shall normally be provided Monday through Friday for generally an 8.5 or 9 hour period between the hours of 0700 and 1600. Each shift shall include a 0.5 hour to 1 hour uncompensated meal-break. The HCW may be scheduled on a flexible basis across the department operating hours. The HCW shall be on duty for 80 hours every 2 weeks.

In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2 week period.

Duties: The duties for the HCW include but are not limited to the following:

• Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, disease process and procedures.
• Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in collaboration with a physician. Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.
• Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated. The HCW shall schedule patients for appointments using MHS Genesis.
• Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling. Order diagnostic tests as applicable.
• Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
• Serve and participate in committees, functions and other meetings as directed. Provide relevant and timely information to these groups and assists with decision-making and process improvement. Participate in customer service initiatives, and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
• The HCW shall attend in-service training in new procedures, techniques, and equipment as well as military specific training as directed by the flight Commander or AF policy.
• Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Prescribe and dispense medications as delineated by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
• Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care. Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and react quickly in emergency situations.
• Provide a full range of nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the Commanding Officer (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
• Coordinates patient care through a continuum and facilitates the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to care, quality and cost effectiveness Medical Records Documentation.
• Health care providers shall complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of the encounter with the patient.
• Serve as the Primary Care Manager (PCM) for a panel of patients enrolled in an HMO-style benefit. The Commanding Officer will enroll a maximum of 1,200 TRICARE Prime enrollees in the HCW.
• In addition to enrolled patients, the HCW shall treat all other authorized beneficiaries as directed by the Senior Medical Officer, Officer in Charge, or other authority in the chain-of-command.
• General. As directed, the HCW shall participate in outreach and marketing of the PDHRA program and services provided. As such, the HCW shall liaise with the Line Commanders, screen patients, provide treatment when appropriate, educate returning units on the availability of the service and coordinate follow on care.
