Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Outpatient Clinic
Canopy Children's Solutions invites a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide specialized psychiatric care for children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 within our outpatient clinic. The role collaborates closely with a licensed Mississippi Psychiatrist and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
OverviewThe PMHNP oversees comprehensive psychiatric services, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and therapeutic interventions. The practitioner ensures evidence‑based care, maintains accurate clinical records, and contributes to program development and quality improvement.
Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment plans for children and adolescents.
- Administer medication management and psychotherapeutic treatments while monitoring safety and efficacy.
- Interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests to inform clinical decision‑making.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for case reviews, discharge planning, and program coordination.
- Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards and legal requirements.
- Serve on organizational committees such as CARES and Medical Practices Committee.
- Document all clinical activities in the health‑information system and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
- Registered Nurse license and current psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certification (Child and Adolescent) approved by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
- Active professional liability insurance, valid DEA number, and active Mississippi Medicaid number.
- Minimum three years of experience providing psychiatric care to children and adolescents up to 21 years of age.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide therapeutic, professional care in a team environment.
