The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice RN working in collaboration with physicians to deliver health care services to meet the specialized physiologic and psychological needs of patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions. The NP delivers health care services to a population of patients within their scope of certification and education.

- Collaborate with physicians to deliver health care services within the NP scope of certification and education.
- Provide care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions within the Digestive Clinic setting.
- Education: Requires successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
- License: Mississippi State Licensure as Nurse Practitioner required.
- Certification: Acute Care NP, Family Medicine NP, Family NP, or Acute Geriatric NP required. Must complete and maintain BCLS upon hire and/or transfer. If works in Psychiatric Services, must maintain current Psychiatric NP certification through ANCC. If works in Surgical Services, must complete and maintain BCLS and ACLS. If works in Pediatrics, current specialty certification as required by department; CPNP preferred.
Must complete and maintain BCLS and PALS. If works in Wound Care, required specialty certification and BCLS/ACLS. De-escalation training must be completed by end of orientation (90 days). - Experience: One (1) year of advanced nursing experience preferred. For Psychiatric Services, a minimum of two (2) years’ RN experience in an acute care or psychiatric hospital required. Previous Psychiatric NP in inpatient/outpatient settings preferred.
- Physical Demands: Moderate activity; ability to move around, potential exposure to body fluids; ability to lift and move objects; close visual acuity and ability to focus; ability to work extended periods and adapt to schedule changes.
- Mental Demands: Strong assessment, decision-making, communication, and ability to work under pressure; attention to detail and multitasking in complex situations.
- Special Demands: Superior customer service, computer proficiency (keyboard), MS Outlook/Word, and professional etiquette.
